Reading your results
What the output means
- Word count and reading timeHow long the draft is, and roughly how long it takes to read.
- Target keywordHow many times your phrase appears and its share of all the words on the page.
- Top phrasesThe words and phrases you repeat most. They should reflect the topic, not filler.
What keyword density is, and why it matters less than you think
Keyword density is the number of times a word or phrase appears in a text divided by the total number of words, shown as a percentage. It was a meaningful signal in early search engines. Today Google understands language far better and does not use a target density; it looks at whether the page covers the topic well and satisfies the searcher.
That does not make the tool useless. A density check quickly shows if a draft never mentions the main topic, or if it repeats a phrase so often that it reads unnaturally and risks looking like keyword stuffing, which Google’s spam policies warn against.
How to read the results
- Target keyword density: if it is zero, the page may not clearly be about the topic. If one phrase is far above everything else, read the text aloud and see if it sounds forced.
- Top single words: these should reflect the subject. If filler words dominate, the content may be thin.
- Top two- and three-word phrases: a quick view of the topics the text covers. Missing phrases that searchers use can point to gaps.
Instead of chasing a percentage, cover the questions searchers ask, use related terms naturally and write for the reader. Our SEO content writing service handles this for you.
01What is a good keyword density?+
There is no ideal keyword density. Google does not use one. Use your main keyword naturally where it fits, especially early in the page and in headings, and focus on covering the topic well.
02How is keyword density calculated?+
For a single word, divide the number of times it appears by the total number of words and multiply by 100. For a phrase, this tool counts how many times the phrase appears and divides by the total number of words.
03Can high keyword density hurt rankings?+
Repeating keywords unnaturally is keyword stuffing, which Google’s spam policies warn against. It also makes content harder to read.
04Does the tool ignore common words?+
Yes. The top keywords list ignores common English stop words such as "the", "and" and "of", so the results show meaningful terms.
05Is my text stored anywhere?+
No. The analysis runs entirely in your browser and your text is never sent to a server.
